Whooping cough cases are increasing in the United States. More than 8,000 cases reported in 2025. Bordetella pertussis bacteria causes this infection. It affects babies and young children. Symptoms include cold-like signs, intense coughing, and a ‘whoop’ sound. Babies may experience apnea and colour changes. Vomiting and fatigue are also common.
